As a former saltwater fishing veteran, I’ve had the pleasure of chartering saltwater fishing boats in several tropical locations around the world. I have also spent considerable time researching the best ways to bring these exotic species back home. And, I have good reason to believe that there are good saltwater fishing spots near Mexico as well. I say this based on personal experience and information from others who have chartered boats there.
When it comes to locating good saltwater fishing spots, there are thousands of locations worldwide that produce good catches from time to time. But, I feel that certain places in Mexico serve to be better than others. One of my personal favorites is located in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Baja California. This is an area where the ocean temperatures remain extremely warm all year round so there are many species of fish that venture into the open waters of Baja California year-round. Some of the most popular saltwater species that are found there are marlin, Spanish mackerel, wahoo, tarpon, and sailfish.
